Just got back and real shagged after washing, cleaning and oiling all my gears.

I have to admit though I have caught nothing, yes nothing although my Thai friend who is also my guide and my the other friend who went with me had a good time with more than 40 p’cs in their score cards rest assured this Nov I will be back with greater enthusiasm.

All the 4 days when we were there, it was raining and through the catch was still pretty consistent except that we, in particular me, cannot take the it (weather). The only good time with a little better weather was the last day after lunch it was strike after strike. I had numerous take and hit too but each time failed to connect or lost during the fight.

The snakehead aka tomans were not big those that my friends caught, the biggest brought the boga to about 13 lbs with plenty in the region of 7 to 8 lbs. Plenty of tomans fries with a brood that I saw almost half the size of a queen size bed.

Plenty of hampala barbs too. The smallest was in the region of 3lbs and the biggest landed took the boga to almost 8 lbs.

Since it had been raining, the river was murky and as we were fishing down stream on a drifting boat aiming for the mahseer or kelah we had river catfish instead. Good eating.

All fishes except the river catfish have to be catch and released as we were actually fishing in a nature reserved area. Each angler is to one boat and most of the boat handlers are rangers themselves so the spot they brought us to were amazing.

The weather in general is better during Nov with the hampala barbs being bigger and that is why I am planning the next trip there and I should have recovered from my coming operations in Sep.

There are not many picture with catches as we were in individual boat and all of us were fishing in different parts of the dam. I am trying to post whatever pictures that I have asap – once I get to know how to do it.

The island of Koh Samui offers an opportunity to explore some of the beaches and bays way off the tourist map in accessible by road and untouched by development. The five islands, Koh Taen and Koh mudsum to the south west of the island offer good snorkeling, fishing and beach exploration. Sunset cruises maximize the beauty of the area as the setting sun casts its warm glow over the islands of the national marine park.

Koh Phangan
The islands laid back nature has long drawn travelers to its un spoilt beaches and warm waters. Due to the topography of the island and its dense foliage many areas are relatively untouched by tourism. The majestic east coast of the island offers scenic bays such as Tong Noi Pan and Bottle Beach, with golden sand and waterfalls close by the area is the perfect place to relax or explore. The west coast offers some good snorkeling and fishing around Koh Ma, while only a few kilometers north lies the world class dive sites of Sail Rock and South West Pinnacles.

Angthong Marine Park
Covering over 100 km? and consisting of more than 80 Islands Angthong National Marine Park is a playground for the more adventurous.
