The Moorings advances the state of power charters with the introduction of the 474 and 372 Power Cats.
Not all powerboats are well-suited for use in bareboat charters. An ideal vessel for such a mission would employ simple, reliable systems that still delivered ample creature comforts. It would be stable and spacious enough to house several couples or a family in comfort, but also fuel- efficient and manageable by an amateur crew.
That was the mission of naval architects Morrelli & Melvin when The Moorings commissioned a new type of cruising boat for the company’s expanding network of bareboat power charter bases. A catamaran platform was selected, not only for it’s potential for efficient operation and inherent stability, but also for the ability to provide a maximum number of equally sized cabins and heads, along with large common spaces.
